Abu Hazim (may Allah have mercy on him) says: I was standing behind Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) while he was performing ablution, and he extended the water of ablution up to his armpits. I said: "O Abu Hurairah! What kind of ablution is this?" He said: "O Banu Farukh! Are you people here? If I had known that you were present here, I would not have performed ablution in this manner. I heard my beloved (peace and blessings be upon him) say: 'The adornment and beauty of the believer will reach up to the places where the water of ablution reaches.'"

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … In these hadiths, the distinctive characteristic of the Ummah of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam has been described, which will be granted to them in the field of Resurrection, and on the basis of this characteristic, the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam will recognize his Ummah. Every individual should be diligent in performing prayer (salah) and ablution (wudu) so that he is not deprived of this honor. Farukh was a son of Prophet Ibrahim alayhis salam; he is the ancestor of the non-Arabs (Ajam). The purpose of this statement by Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah radi Allahu anhu was that a person who is followed by others should not act upon dispensations (rukhsah) or strict practices (tashaddud) in front of those with little understanding, lest they take the dispensation as a permanent ruling and adopt it without necessity, or consider the strict practice as obligatory.
