It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hujayfah (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: We asked Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) whether the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) gave you anything besides the Holy Qur'an? He said: No, by Him Who split the grain and created the soul! He gave us nothing except the understanding and insight which Allah grants to a man in the Qur'an, or that which is in this scroll. I asked: What is in it? He said: The issues of blood money (diyah), freeing a captive, and that a Muslim will not be killed in retaliation for a disbeliever.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The background of Abu Hujayfah’s radi Allahu anhu question was that a group among the Shia holds the belief that the Ahl al-Bayt, especially Sayyiduna Ali radi Allahu anhu, were given special knowledge by the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. In response, Sayyiduna Ali radi Allahu anhu, in a very comprehensive manner, refuted this notion.
From this hadith, it is understood that if a Muslim kills a disbeliever, then the Muslim will not be killed in retribution (qisas).
It becomes apparent that even during the lifetime of Ali radi Allahu anhu, this misunderstanding was becoming widespread among the people—that the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam had taught him some special knowledge. He addressed and corrected this misconception.
