Sayyiduna Abu Shurayh Khuza'i (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever is killed or wounded, he has the choice of one of three things: (1) he may take retribution (qisas), or (2) he may accept blood money (diyah), or (3) he may forgive. If he seeks a fourth option, prevent him. If a person chooses one of these three things and then exceeds after that, then for him is Hellfire, he will abide therein forever.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Some of the content of this hadith has been mentioned in this verse: {فَمَنِاعْتَدٰیبَعْدَذَالِکَفَلَہٗعَذَابٌاَلِیْمٌ} “So whoever transgresses after reconciliation, for him there is a painful punishment.” (Al-Baqarah: 178) The pure Shari‘ah has also determined the right of the oppressed; the wrongdoing of the oppressor does not mean that excess should be committed against him.
