It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever keeps a dog for purposes other than farming, guarding livestock, or hunting, then one qirat will be deducted from his deeds every day. Abu al-Hakam says: I said to Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both): If the dog is in a house, and I dislike it? He said: This warning is for the owner of the house.
