It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade killing snakes that live in houses, except for two types: one that has two stripes on its back, and the other, the short-tailed harmful snake. These two cause blindness and cause pregnant women to miscarry.
