Hadith 6484

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, ordered the killing of two black-colored creatures. Yahya bin Hamzah says that by black-colored creatures are meant the snake and the scorpion.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: ... The black snake is called "aswad," and every type of snake is also called "aswad." Here, what is meant is the snake in general. Referring to both the snake and the scorpion as "aswadayn" is an example of "bab al-taghlib" (the rule of predominance in Arabic grammar).
