Narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him): In the time of the Messenger of Allah, a man died. A person came to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! So-and-so has died. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: He has not died yet. Then that person came a second time and then a third time and said the same thing. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: How did he die? He said: He killed himself by stabbing himself with a spear. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not perform his funeral prayer. In another narration, it is stated that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Then I will not perform his funeral prayer.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The fact that the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam did not perform the funeral prayer (salat al-janazah) was a disciplinary action. At this juncture, the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam intended, through his action, to demonstrate the gravity of this deed, so that people might take heed. Otherwise, according to the hadith mentioned in the benefits of Hadith number (6470), the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam did supplicate for forgiveness for such a person.
