It is narrated from Sayyiduna Miqdam bin Ma'dikarib (may Allah be pleased with him) that water for ablution was brought to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), then he performed ablution in such a way that he washed both hands three times, washed his face three times, washed his arms three times each, rinsed his mouth and put water into his nose three times each, wiped his head and the outer and inner parts of his ears, and then washed both feet three times each.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … It is understood that after washing his arms, the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam performed rinsing of the mouth (madmadah) and inhaling water into the nose (istinshaq).
The general method of ablution (wudu) of the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam is according to the same sequence that is mentioned in the common and well-known ahadith, and ablution should be performed in this manner. However, from the above-mentioned narration, it is evident that performing ablution without this well-known sequence is also established; therefore, that is also correct. The conclusion is that maintaining the sequence in ablution is recommended (mustahabb), not obligatory.
