Such ahadith pertain to times of tribulation (fitan), in which enduring oppression and injustice will bring safety, and retaliatory action would lead to greater corruption and chaos.
Our Shari‘ah demands that a Muslim should be wise, prudent, and mindful of consequences, and should repeatedly consider the outcome before taking any action. Honor is not merely fulfilling all the demands of anger and rage in a single moment, such that generations continue to suffer its evil consequences. It is precisely the teachings of Islam that fighting for the protection of life and property is permissible, and whoever is killed in such a situation is a martyr (shahid). However, in times of tribulation, exercising patience is also required by Islamic rulings. Many individuals have been observed who, being unable to bear a single insult or taunt, have destroyed families and brought disgrace upon themselves with their own hands.
