Hadith 645

وَعَنْهُ أَيْضًا أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: ((إِذَا تَوَضَّأَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَسْتَنْثِرْ، فَإِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ يَبِيتُ عَلَى خَيَاشِيمِهِ))
It is also narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "When any one of you performs ablution, he should clean his nose, for indeed Satan spends the night in the nostrils or the roots of his nose."
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The wording of the narration in Sahih al-Bukhari is as follows: “When one of you wakes up from his sleep and performs ablution (wudu), let him rinse his nose three times, for indeed, Satan spends the night at the upper part of his nose.” … Therefore, the specific instruction to rinse the nose three times pertains to that ablution which is performed after sleeping at night.
