عَنْ شَقِيقٍ قَالَ قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَوَّلُ مَا يُقْضَى بَيْنَ النَّاسِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ فِي الدِّمَاءِ
Narrated by Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: On the Day of Resurrection, the first matter to be decided among the people will be concerning blood (i.e., cases of murder).
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Among the rights of Allah, the first to be accounted for will be the prayer (salah), and among the rights of the servants, the first to be accounted for will be blood (i.e., matters of life and death). And when Allah, the Exalted, will mention to His servant the favors He bestowed upon him, the very first reckoning will be regarding health and cool water, as is established from the following hadith.
It is narrated from Abu Hurairah radi Allahu anhu that the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: ((Inna awwala ma yuhasabu bihi al-‘abdu yawma al-qiyamati an yuqalu lahu: Alam usih laka jismak, wa urwika mina al-ma’i al-barid?)) … “On the Day of Resurrection, the very first reckoning of the servant will be that it will be said to him: Did I not make your body healthy? Did I not quench your thirst with cool water?” (Tirmidhi: 2/240, Sahihah: 539)
