Hadith 6409

It is narrated from Ibn Abi Bakrah that Sayyiduna Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him) wrote a letter to one of his sons, who was a judge in the region of Sijistan: "Amma ba'd! When you are in a state of anger, do not judge between two people, because the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: No man or ruler should judge between two individuals while in a state of anger."

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Extreme patience and forbearance are absolutely necessary when making a judgment between two or more individuals or parties; in fact, this quality is an adornment for the judge and ruler. Anger and rage are not solutions to any issue. However, it is a separate matter that, considering the nature of the wrongdoing of an oppressor—whether an individual or a party—anger may be expressed before them so that they become aware of their mistake. But at the time of making a judgment, the ruler should not be in a state of anger.
