Hadith 6370

عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَجُلٌ مَاتَ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَلَمْ يَتْرُكْ وَارِثًا إِلَّا عَبْدًا هُوَ أَعْتَقَهُ، فَأَعْطَاهُ مِيرَاثَهُ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that in the time of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), a man passed away and left no heirs, except for a freed slave of his. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave his inheritance to that freed slave.
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The emancipator of a slave is called an ‘asabah sababiyy (cause-based agnate). In the absence of ‘asabah nasabiyy (lineal agnates), the ‘asabah sababiyy take their place.
