Hadith 6338

عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لَا يَتَوَارَثُ أَهْلُ مِلَّتَيْنِ شَتَّى
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Those of two different religions will not inherit from each other.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Imam Azimabadi said: According to the majority of scholars, "two religions" refers to Islam and disbelief (kufr); thus, this hadith has the same meaning as the previous hadith. It is established that followers of different disbelieving religions can inherit from one another. Only Imam Awza‘i is of the opinion that the generality of this hadith applies, and he says that a Jew will not inherit from a Christian, nor will a Christian inherit from a Jew; similarly, this will be the case for followers of other religions.
