It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both, he says: I wish that people would choose to bequeath one-fourth of their wealth instead of one-third, because the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, had said: Bequeathing one-third is also too much.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … From these ahadith, one should understand the rights of relatives. Some childless wealthy individuals have been observed to be anxious about their wealth, even to the extent that they worry about how, after their death, this wealth will be distributed among certain people. Such individuals should spend a portion of their wealth in the path of Allah Ta'ala during their lifetime, make a bequest (wasiyyah) regarding a portion, and be content with the remainder being distributed among the heirs according to the command of Allah Ta'ala. At this point, there should be no constriction in their hearts; otherwise, it would mean that the person dislikes the commands of Allah Ta'ala.
