عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ التَّيْمِيِّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَى عَنْ لُقْطَةِ الْحَاجِّ
Narrated by Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Uthman Taymi (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade picking up lost items of the pilgrims.
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … In this blessed hadith, there is mention of pilgrims in general; no restriction of the Haram or Makkah Mukarramah has been applied. Now the question arises: in light of the previous ahadith, should this hadith be restricted or should it remain general? The wording itself demands that this ruling is general and should be left as such, because it is possible that, in the case of the item being valuable, the owner may return, or upon returning from Hajj or Umrah, may attempt to search for his item.
