Abu Salamah narrates that he says: Marwan told us to go and reconcile between Sayyiduna Sa'id bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) and Arwa bint Uwais. When we reached Sayyiduna Sa'id bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him), he said to us: What do you think, have I usurped Arwa's share of the land? I myself heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say that whoever seizes or steals even a span of someone else's land without right, a collar from seven earths will be put around his neck, and whoever appoints a leader over a people without their permission, the curse of Allah will be upon him, and whoever seizes his brother's wealth through an oath, Allah will not bless it for him.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The purpose of Sayyiduna Sa’id bin Zayd radi Allahu anhu narrating this hadith is to show that Arwa is not truthful in her statement; he neither usurped her land nor grazed on it. According to the narration in Sahih Muslim, after narrating this hadith, Sayyiduna Sa’id radi Allahu anhu said: “Allahumma in kanat kadhibatan fa a‘m basaraha waj‘al qabraha fi dariha.” … O Allah! If this Arwa is lying, then blind her and make her grave within her house. The narrator says: Then I saw that woman; she became blind and would walk by touching the wall, and she used to say: The curse of Sa’id bin Zayd has afflicted me. One day, while she was walking in her house, she fell into a well present in the house, and that became her grave.
