It is narrated from a Companion that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: In three things, Muslims are equal partners: in water, grass, and fire.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The issue of water has already been discussed in Hadith number (5823). Imam Khattabi said: What is meant here is the grass that grows on land which is not owned by anyone; no one has the right to prevent others from benefiting from this grass. However, if the grass grows on land that is owned by someone, then permission must be sought from the owner. The communal nature of fire refers to taking a flame from a burning fire to light a lamp or to further kindle fire and to benefit from its light. Similarly, it refers to obtaining wood from trees that grow on unowned land.
