Narrated by Sayyiduna Uthman bin Abi Al-Aas (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: I submitted, "O Messenger of Allah! Make me the imam of my people." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You are their imam, so take care of the weakest among them and appoint such a muezzin who does not take wages for his call to prayer."
