It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ubaydullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that Sayyiduna Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) had a water spout, and its water would fall onto the path. Once it happened that Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) wore his clothes on a Friday and passed by there. At that time, two chicks of Sayyiduna Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) had been slaughtered. When Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) reached under the spout, water mixed with the blood of the chicks fell on him. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) ordered that the spout be removed from there, and he himself returned home, changed his clothes, then came back and led the people in prayer. Then Sayyiduna Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) came to him and said: By Allah! This is the very place where the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) himself had installed the spout. Upon hearing this, Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said to Sayyiduna Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him): Then I insist that you climb onto my back and install this spout at the very place where the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had placed it. Sayyiduna Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) did exactly that.
