It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: "When you use the water of ablution in its proper place, you will sit forgiven; then if a person stands and performs prayer, there is virtue and reward for him in it." A man said to him: "O Abu Umamah! What is your opinion regarding this, that if such a person stands and performs prayer, will his prayer be considered extra?" He said: "No, this being extra was for the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). For an ordinary servant, this prayer will be a means of virtue and reward."
