Abu Ghalib Rasbi, may Allah have mercy on him, says: I met Sayyiduna Abu Umamah Hamsi, may Allah be pleased with him, and asked him about some matters. He narrated that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "When a person stands up to perform ablution upon hearing the call to prayer, with the very first drop of water that touches his palm, he is forgiven, and this continues with every drop, until when he completes his ablution, his previous sins have been forgiven and the prayer he performs is increased in reward."
Abu Ghalib, may Allah have mercy on him, says: I said to Sayyiduna Abu Umamah, may Allah be pleased with him: "Did you hear this hadith from the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him?" He said: "Why not, by the One Who sent him, peace and blessings be upon him, with the truth as a bearer of glad tidings and a warner! Not once, but two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten times, and not just ten times," then he clapped his hands to indicate the number.
