عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ الْجُهَنِيِّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ لِأَصْحَابِهِ لَا تُخِيفُوا أَنْفُسَكُمْ أَوْ قَالَ الْأَنْفُسَ فَقِيلَ لَهُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَمَا نُخِيفُ أَنْفُسَنَا قَالَ الدَّيْنَ
Narrated by Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: A man entered Paradise because he used to show gentleness (and generosity) at the time of payment and when demanding repayment.
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … A hadith of this kind has already passed in Hadith number (5788). Adopting gentleness in daily practices is not a matter of a few days; to be characterized by this quality, one must exert considerable effort and accustom oneself to the habit of giving oneself the opportunity to reflect before every kind of speech and action.
