Hadith 601

عَنْ شَهْرِ بْنِ حَوْشَبٍ عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ الْحِمْصِيِّ صَاحِبِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: ((الْوُضُوءُ يُكَفِّرُ مَا قَبْلَهُ ثُمَّ تَصِيرُ الصَّلَاةُ نَافِلَةً))، فَقِيلَ لَهُ: أَسَمِعْتَهَا مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ غَيْرَ مَرَّةٍ وَلَا مَرْتَيْنِ وَلَا ثَلَاثٍ وَلَا أَرْبَعٍ وَلَا خَمْسٍ
Sayyiduna Abu Umamah Himsi (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Wudu erases previous sins, then prayer is added." Someone asked: "Did you hear this hadith from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)?" He replied: "Yes, not just once, twice, three, four, or five times (but more than that)."
