عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ الذَّهَبُ بِالذَّهَبِ وَالْفِضَّةُ بِالْفِضَّةِ وَالْوَرَقُ بِالْوَرَقِ مِثْلًا بِمِثْلٍ يَدًا بِيَدٍ مَنْ زَادَ أَوِ اسْتَزَادَ فَقَدْ أَرْبَى
Narrated by Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: At the time of sale, gold for gold, silver for silver, and silver coin for silver coin should be equal and hand to hand; whoever gives or demands more has engaged in usury.
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … "Waraq" is the silver that has been minted into coins; "fiddah" also refers to silver, but the difference is that its usage applies to both coined and uncoined silver.
