Hadith 5939

Narrated by Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The responsibility of a slave is for four nights. Whereas Qatadah says: According to the people of Madinah, it is three nights.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … That is, if any defect is found in a slave within four days, then he may be returned to the seller without the need for witnesses. However, if the buyer claims a defect after this period, then witnesses will be required to establish whether the slave was indeed defective from the beginning. However, this narration is weak.
