Hadith 5905

Narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: No man should sell over his brother’s sale, nor should he propose over his brother’s proposal, unless he gives him permission.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … To sell over someone’s sale means that when a seller and a buyer are engaged in a transaction, both appear to be consenting, and the contract is about to be finalized, then a third person intervenes and, by offering a higher price, inclines the owner towards himself. Through this action of the third person, enmity and discord will increase among Muslims; therefore, the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam prohibited doing so.
