It is narrated from Abu Ayash, he says that Sayyiduna Sa’d bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) was asked about selling dry barley in exchange for wet barley. He said that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked about selling fresh dates in exchange for dry dates, he (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: When the fresh dates dry, does their weight decrease? The people said: Yes. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Then this sale is not permissible.
