عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ لَا تَبِيعُوا فَضْلَ الْمَاءِ وَلَا تَمْنَعُوا الْكَلَأَ فَيَهْزُلَ الْمَالُ وَيَجُوعَ الْعِيَالُ
Narrated by Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him), the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do not sell excess water, nor prohibit grass, otherwise the livestock will become weak and the family members will suffer from hunger.
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … By “fa-yahzula al-maal” is meant that the livestock will become weak, and thus their milk will decrease, as a result of which people will be afflicted with hunger.
