Hadith 5818

عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا يَحِلُّ بَيْعُ الْمُغَنِّيَاتِ وَلَا شِرَاؤُهُنَّ وَلَا تِجَارَةٌ فِيهِنَّ وَأَكْلُ أَثْمَانِهِنَّ حَرَامٌ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: The buying and selling of female singers, their earnings, their trade, and their price are forbidden.
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … When a slave-girl is sold not in her capacity as a slave-girl, but in her capacity as a singer, then her price will be unlawful. The permissibility of this trade depends upon the intention.
