عَنْ جَابِرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ نَهَى عَنْ ثَمَنِ الْكَلْبِ وَقَالَ طُعْمَةٌ جَاهِلِيَّةٌ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) forbade the price of a dog and said that this is the food of ignorance.
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … In this hadith, the price of a dog has been declared as the food of the Age of Ignorance (Jahiliyyah). Since this is an act of Jahiliyyah and a filthy and unlawful business, therefore our Shari‘ah has termed it as the food of Jahiliyyah and declared it forbidden (haram).
