Hadith 5814

عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَى عَنْ ثَمَنِ السِّنَّوْرِ وَهُوَ الْقِطُّ
It is also narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade taking the price of a cat.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The purport of these ahadith is precisely that it is not permissible to eat a cat or to take its price, because it generally roams around in homes. If permission were given to eat it or to take its price, society would fall prey to idleness and futility.
