Narrated by Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Among the Children of Israel, there was a man who bought land from another man. The buyer found a pot of gold in that land. He said to the seller: Take your gold, for I bought the land from you, not the gold. But the seller said: I sold the land and everything in it to you. So they both took their case to a man for judgment. He asked: Do you have children? One of them said: He has a son, and the other said: She has a daughter. He said: Marry the boy to the girl, spend the gold on them, and give some amount in charity.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … In our Shari‘ah, there are prescribed rulings for such things. If it is a lost item, then the rulings related to it will apply. If it is a buried treasure from the time of ignorance, which is called rikaz, then the one who finds it becomes its owner; however, at that time, one-fifth (khums) must be given as zakat.
