بَابُ مَا جَاءَ فِي الْحَقِّ عَلَى الْكَسْبِ وَعَدَمِ التَّقَاعُدِ وَالتَّرْعَيْبِ فِي الْحَلَالِ مِنْهُ وَالتَّنْفِيرِ مِنَ الْحَرَامِ باب أفضل الكسب البيعُ وَعَمْلُ الرَّجُلِ بِيَدِهِ وَمِنْهُ كَسْبُ وَلَدِهِChapter: What has been reported regarding the right to earn, not being idle, encouragement for lawful earnings, and discouragement from unlawful earnings; the best earning is trade and a man’s work with his own hands, including the earnings of his children

عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ قَالَ كَانَتْ لِمِقْدَامِ بْنِ مَعْدِيكَرِبَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ جَارِيَةٌ تَبِيعُ اللَّبَنَ وَيَقْبِضُ الْمِقْدَامُ الثَّمَنَ فَقِيلَ لَهُ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ تَبِيعُ اللَّبَنَ وَتَقْبِضُ الثَّمَنَ فَقَالَ نَعَمْ وَمَا بَأْسٌ بِذَلِكَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ لَيَأْتِيَنَّ عَلَى النَّاسِ زَمَانٌ لَا يَنْفَعُ فِيهِ إِلَّا الدِّينَارُ وَالدِّرْهَمُ
Abu Bakr bin Abi Maryam says that Sayyiduna Miqdam bin Ma'di Yakrib (may Allah be pleased with him) had a slave girl who used to sell milk, and he used to take the price of that milk. Someone said to him: Subhan Allah! (How astonishing) The slave girl sells the milk and you take the price? He replied: There is nothing sinful in this. I myself heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say that a time will come upon the people when only dinar and dirham will be of use.
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The meaning of the marfu‘ hadith is that such a time will also come in which earning a livelihood will be beneficial for people; otherwise, they will fall into matters such as theft, hypocrisy, and assisting the oppressor.
