It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O people! Allah Almighty is pure and accepts only that which is pure, and indeed Allah Almighty has commanded the believers with the same command that He gave to His messengers. Allah the Exalted says: O Messengers! Eat of the pure things and do righteous deeds; surely I am aware of what you do. (: Surah Al-Mu’minun: 51) And He also said: O believers! Eat of the pure things which We have provided for you as sustenance. (: Surah Al-Baqarah: 172) Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned a man who undertakes a long journey, his hair is disheveled and covered with dust, and he stretches his hands towards the sky and supplicates: O my Lord! O my Lord! While his food, drink, clothing, and nourishment are unlawful, so how can his supplication be accepted?

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Whether the issue pertains to the Prophets and Messengers or to their followers, both have been commanded to ensure lawful (halal) sustenance; otherwise, even the humble supplication of a Muslim is rejected. One of the problems of the present age is also that people do not distinguish between what is lawful (halal) and unlawful (haram), and wherever someone finds an opportunity, he is ready to seize the prey.
