Hadith 5720

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Zubair bin Al-Awwam (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It is better for a man to put a rope on his shoulder, carry a bundle of firewood, and bring it to the market to sell, earning wealth from it to spend on himself, than to go around begging from people, whether they give him something or not."

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … A Muslim should, according to his ability, strive to avoid asking from people and endeavor to make his own means of income; this is the life of dignity, honor, and goodness. When a Muslim becomes dependent on others in this matter, his self-respect begins to diminish.
