It is narrated from Sayyiduna Zayd bin Arqam (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to supplicate: "O Allah! I seek refuge in You from incapacity, laziness, old age, cowardice, miserliness, and the punishment of the grave. O Allah! Grant my soul piety and purify it, for You are the best to purify it. You are its Guardian and Master. O Allah! I seek refuge in You from a heart that does not fear, a soul that is not satisfied, knowledge that does not benefit, and a supplication that is not answered." Sayyiduna Zayd bin Arqam (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to teach us these words, and we are teaching them to you."
