It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sa’d bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) that he used to command these five words and would state that they are narrated from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). These words are: "O Allah! Indeed, I seek refuge in You from miserliness, and I seek refuge in You from cowardice, and I seek refuge in You from being returned to the worst part of life, and I seek refuge in You from the trials of the world, and I seek refuge in You from the punishment of the grave." (O Allah! Indeed, I seek Your protection from miserliness, from cowardice, I seek Your protection from being returned to old age, I seek Your protection from the trials of the world, and I seek Your protection from the punishment of the grave.)
