It is narrated from Sayyiduna Tariq bin Ashyam, may Allah be pleased with him, that when a person would come to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and ask: O Messenger of Allah! When I ask my Lord, how and what should I say? The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, would say: Say like this: "Allahumma ighfir li warhamni wahdini warzuqni" (O Allah! Forgive me, have mercy on me, guide me, and provide for me). At the same time, the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, gathered four fingers except the thumb and said: These words will gather for you the goodness of this world and the Hereafter.
