It is narrated from Sayyiduna Zaid bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) taught him a supplication and instructed him to ensure that his family members also recite this supplication every day (i.e., all members should recite it daily). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Every morning say: I am present (for Your obedience), O Allah! I am present, and I am present. Goodness is in Your hand, it is from You, it is with You, and it is to You. O Allah! Whatever I have said, whatever vow I have made, and whatever oath I have taken, Your will is above all of them. Whatever You will happens, and whatever You do not will does not happen. There is no power to avoid evil and no strength to do good except with You. Surely, You have power over all things. O Allah! The mercy I have prayed for is for the one upon whom You have sent mercy, and the curse I have invoked is upon the one whom You have cursed. Surely, You are my friend in this world and in the Hereafter. Cause me to die as a Muslim and join me with the righteous. O Allah! I ask You for contentment after Your decree, comfort after death, the pleasure of looking at Your Face, and the longing to meet You, but not in a way that brings harmful distress or a misleading trial. O Allah! I seek refuge in You from oppressing or being oppressed, from committing excess or having excess committed against me, from committing a sin that wastes deeds, or from committing an unforgivable sin. O Allah! Creator of the heavens and the earth! Knower of the unseen and the seen! Possessor of majesty and honor! Surely, I make a promise to You in this worldly life and make You a witness, and You are sufficient as a witness, that I bear witness that there is no deity worthy of worship except You. You are alone, You have no partner. Sovereignty belongs to You, all praise is for You, and You have power over all things. And I also bear witness that Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is Your servant and Your Messenger, and I bear witness that Your promise is true, Your meeting is true, Paradise is true, the Day of Judgment is undoubtedly coming, and You will resurrect those in the graves. And I also bear witness that if You entrust me to myself, it would mean that You have left me to loss, defect, sin, and error, and I have no reliance except on Your mercy. So forgive all my sins for me, for You are the Forgiver of sins, and accept my repentance. Surely, You are the Acceptor of repentance and the Most Merciful.
