عَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ عَلِيًّا رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ سَلِ اللَّهَ تَعَالَى الْهُدَى وَالسَّدَادَ وَاذْكُرْ بِالْهُدَى هِدَايَتَكَ الطَّرِيقَ وَاذْكُرْ بِالسَّدَادِ تَسْدِيدَكَ السَّهْمَ
Sayyiduna Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that it is reported from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Ask Allah Almighty for guidance and uprightness, and by guidance you should mean that you are guided to the straight path, and by uprightness you should mean that you are made straight like an arrow.

Benefits: ... "Sadaad" has various meanings, such as: steadfastness, moderation, uprightness, correctness of speech and action, truthfulness, and veracity.
Just as great attention and effort are given to straightening an arrow, similarly, a person should strive to correct all his words and actions in life and should not be negligent in any matter. When a person is asking for guidance and uprightness, at that time, the full meanings of these terms should be present in his mind.
