Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates from his father, Sayyiduna Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him), that he came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! I am your uncle, now I have become old and the time of my death has drawn near, so teach me something through which Allah Almighty may benefit me. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O Abbas! You are my uncle, but I cannot suffice for you before Allah Almighty. However, you should ask your Lord for forgiveness and well-being in this world and the Hereafter. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) repeated this three times. Then, when he came at the end of the year, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said the same thing again.
