Hadith 5583

عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّ الرَّجُلَ لَيُحْرَمُ الرِّزْقَ بِالذَّنْبِ يُصِيبُهُ وَلَا يَرُدُّ الْقَدَرَ إِلَّا الدُّعَاءُ وَلَا يَزِيدُ فِي الْعُمُرِ إِلَّا الْبِرُّ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Indeed, a person is deprived of sustenance because of committing a sin, and nothing can repel destiny except supplication, and only righteousness increases lifespan.
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … When a person performs righteous deeds in abundance and Allah Ta‘ala grants him manifold reward, it appears as though this person has attained a long life, because he has accomplished so many deeds that would normally require a lengthy lifespan.
