Hadith 5515

عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا تَبِيتَنَّ النَّارُ فِي بُيُوتِكُمْ فَإِنَّهَا عَدُوٌّ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Fire must never be left to spend the night in your homes, for it is your enemy.
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … There are great benefits for people in fire, but just like an enemy, one can never be completely safe from its harm. It has burned many people, burned houses, and burned the belongings within houses. Therefore, when going to sleep, one should extinguish any fire present inside the house before sleeping.
