Hadith 5482

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Agharr Muzani (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Surely, such is the state that even my heart experiences heedlessness, and I seek forgiveness from Allah Almighty one hundred times every day.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … What is meant by heedlessness (ghaflah) that comes over the heart is the interruption of the continuity of remembrance (dhikr) due to some incidental cause. The pure heart of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam would perceive this interruption, and then he sallallahu alayhi wa sallam would make amends for it. Those who engage abundantly in remembrance experience this blessed hadith practically: when the time of worship for great individuals is spent in other permissible and lawful matters, they sense this deficiency in their disposition and then strive to make amends for it.
