عَنِ الْبَرَاءِ بْنِ عَازِبٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ مَنْ مَنَحَ مَنْحَةَ وَرِقٍ أَوْ مَنْحَةَ لَبَنٍ أَوْ هَدَى زُقَاقًا فَهُوَ كَعِتَاقِ نَسَمَةٍ وَمَنْ قَالَ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ فَهُوَ كَعِتَاقِ نَسَمَةٍ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Bara’ bin Azib (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever gives a gift of silver, or a gift of milk, or guides someone on the road, he will receive the reward of freeing a slave. And whoever says: "Laa ilaaha illallaahu wahdahu laa shareeka lahu, lahul-mulku wa lahul-hamdu wa huwa ‘alaa kulli shay’in qadeer," he will also be like one who frees a slave.
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … By "the gift of silver" is meant giving a loan, and by "the gift of milk" is meant that a milch animal is given to someone so that he may benefit from its milk for a certain period, and then return the animal to its owner.
