It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both, that the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, passed by two graves and said: "Indeed, these two are being punished, and they are not being punished for something difficult; one of them did not protect himself from his urine, and the other used to carry tales." (Musnad Ahmad: 1980)

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The wording of a narration in Sahih Bukhari is as follows: "And they are not being punished for something difficult, and indeed it is something great..." That is, they are not being punished due to a difficult deed, and indeed these are major sins. From this, it is understood that not protecting oneself from urine splashes and tale-bearing (carrying tales to sow discord) are major sins (kabirah). According to the research of Hafiz Ibn Hajar, these were two Muslims who were buried in Baqi', although at that time the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam was not present. This detail is established from the wording of a narration in which he sallallahu alayhi wa sallam asked: "Who did you bury here today?" ((مَنْدَفَنْتُمُالْیَوْمَھٰھُنَا؟)) … That is, whom did you people bury here today? From such ahadith, we should take heed, because what comparison do we have with those personalities who brought direct faith in the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam? When, despite being among such great personalities, they were seized by punishment due to the aforementioned shortcomings, then how can we, with our weaknesses, be safe from the punishment of Allah?
