Hadith 5413

عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ أَكْثِرُوا ذِكْرَ اللَّهِ حَتَّى يَقُولُوا مَجْنُونٌ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Remember Allah so abundantly that people call you mad.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The manner and quantity of worship have been determined; the examples of the worship of the Noble Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) and the noble Companions (radi Allahu anhum), and their weeping and humble supplications during worship, are before us. We should follow them alone. It has been observed that ordinary worldly people often mock the acts of worship performed by devout individuals.
