It is narrated from Sayyiduna Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): Which jihad has the greatest reward? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: The one who remembers Allah the most. He asked: Which fasting person has the greatest reward? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: The one who remembers Allah the most. Then he asked similar questions about prayer, zakat, Hajj, and charity, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) gave the same answer: The one who remembers Allah the most. Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said to Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him): O Abu Hafs! Those who remember (Allah) have taken all kinds of goodness. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Yes, absolutely.
