Hadith 5402

عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ يَقُولُ أَنَا مَعَ عَبْدِي حِينَ يَذْكُرُنِي وَفِي لَفْظٍ أَنَا عِنْدَ ظَنِّ عَبْدِي بِي وَأَنَا مَعَهُ حَيْثُ يَذْكُرُنِي فَإِنْ ذَكَرَنِي فِي نَفْسِهِ ذَكَرْتُهُ فِي نَفْسِي الْحَدِيثَ
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Verily, Allah the Exalted says: When My servant remembers Me, I am with him. My servant thinks of Me as he expects of Me, and I treat him accordingly. I am with him when he remembers Me; if he remembers Me within himself, I also remember him within Myself.
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … By this "ma‘iyyah" (companionship), what is meant is the special companionship of Allah Ta‘ala, which becomes a cause for His mercy, enabling grace (tawfiq), guidance, and assistance. Otherwise, the general companionship that pertains to His knowledge and encompassing awareness is obtained by everyone.
